Intervention on the radio link of Bujumbura International Airport

✈️ In February of this year 2023, Themys has carried out on behalf of Jotron the renovation of the radio communication system used for air traffic control at the international airport of Bujumbura in Burundi.

For this project, Jotron entrusted Themys not only with the integration of the air traffic control radio equipment (installation and commissioning of two Jotron racks) but also with the design, supply and installation of a double microwave link enabling the airport to communicate in full duplex from a high point located 25 km from the airport.
 
This double link is composed of a main link in 400-470 Mhz band, a backup link in 2.4-2.6 Ghz as well as an automatic switchover system allowing 99.99% availability of the system.
 
The tests have highlighted their good functionality. They allow a communication coverage between the controller and the aircraft at more than 300 kilometers from the airport.
